mission / social justice corner
Feature 1
This “Mission/Social Justice Corner” is created so we as individuals, congregations, and a community can better live “Christ’s Mission is Our Mission”. We want to identify the needs of our communities, our mission center, our country, and other countries so we can help raise awareness, identify social justice ministries, and engage in living Christ’s mission.
Opportunities to Move Words into Action
Washington, DC area: Thank you for your generous clothing and moneary donations. Our local social justice event was a huge success and is making a difference to people in Columbia, South America. We showed that we can make an impact as we claim Christ’s Mission is Our Mission.
Opportunity for All: As Christians, we are called to seek justice, care for those experiencing hunger and poverty, and embrace our Creator's vision of hope, love, and peace. The 2021 Offering of Letters is one tool for you to advocate in solidarity with those impacted by the inequities that drive hunger and poverty. Bread for the World is asking that we send Letters to Congress to urge Congress to expand anti-hunger programs in response to the pandemic and increase funding for domestic and global nutrition programs. The Offering of Letters website, https://ol.bread.org/ includes flexible tools and resources and will enable all to write letters and emails on a range of relevant legislative priorities that may develop throughout the year. Also, educational resources on the impact of climate change, economic justice, and racial and gender equity on hunger will be available throughout the year.
